Dad is such a drag

The kids are unhappy that I have them writing reports on a city of their choosing. Tough love.

We're gearing up for our trip over to Europe -- with six kids, I will be Clark Griswald all the way ("look kids, Parliament!"). We'll be hitting the following major stops along the way:

Dublin
Edinburgh
London
Fontainebleau (for my sister Caroline's wedding!)
Strasbourg
Paris

Perils of traveling as a large family

With one week to go before we head over to Europe with our six children, I found out that our rental van from Hertz (booked through Amex) was a seven-seater, despite assurances during the booking process that it was a nine-seater. I spent a couple hours on the phone with both Hertz and Amex today trying to resolve the issue, but to no avail - alas, the world is not built for larger families. So much for "platinum concierge service."

I am now trying to rent a van through AutoEurope. If we end up having to tie one of the kids to the roof, I'll post some pictures here.
